NASWA Winter Policy Forum 2013: Final Agenda and Conference Presentations
NASWA’s 2013 Winter Policy Forum in Washington, D.C. February 21-22, 2013
was held with the World Association of Public Employment Services’ (WAPES) Conference on Long-Term Unemployment. WAPES is a membership association of administrators of workforce programs around the world. This is the first such partnership meeting in NASWA's 76-year history.
Helping develop the agenda and secure speakers for the conference were the Local Economic and Employment Development Programme of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as DirectEmployers, NASWA’s partner in the National Labor Exchange and US.jobs. The conference included plenary sessions on international economic and workforce development topics, followed by concurrent workshop panels organized into three tracks: panels offering international perspectives on long-term and youth unemployment; US policy panels; and panels with an employer perspective.
NASWA’s Winter Policy Forum and the WAPES Conference on Long-Term Unemployment drew over 200 attendees, most notably NASWA members in the United States and WAPES members from countries around the world, including Europe, Asia and the Americas. Some members of the United States business and policymaking communities also attended.
