On September 11-14, 2012, NASWA hosted its 76th Annual Conference in San Diego, California, where workforce professionals from across the country came to discuss the current economic conditions, state budgetary issues and innovations throughout the workforce system. The Conference was well attended with over 200 participants representing 40 states and the District of Columbia.

NASWA's 76th Annual Conference featured plenary discussions on the high levels of unemployment throughout the United States, the impact of federal budget cuts to the workforce system and innovations states have developed to promote greater efficiency in unemployment insurance and workforce programs.

The Conference also featured numerous workshops, collaborative forums for states, federal officials and employers. Workshop topics included: State Workforce Innovations; Providing Services to Veterans and Disabled Persons; Programs to Reduce UI Overpayments; Labor Market Information and strategies employers, workers and state workforce agencies are employing to make the most of developing technologies.
