New Healthcare Career Tool Helps Jobseekers
The Healthcare Virtual Career Network (VCN) is an online portal with information and tools to help jobseekers enter or advance in the healthcare field. The tool is designed for new entrants, as well as the unemployed and underemployed. Using VCN, job seekers can explore healthcare occupations, assess readiness for a specific career, determine gaps in education or work experience, take free online foundation courses, locate training and education programs, and find a healthcare job.
The VCN gives the public workforce system a new tool to help jobseekers and businesses. State workforce development agencies and their local partners can refer jobseekers to the VCN directly, or through agency outreach via websites, mailings and social media. Some jobseekers may need staff assistance to use the tool, and workforce staff--through either group or individual sessions--can guide jobseekers in identifying careers, connecting to training, and finding jobs. Workforce professionals can also assist business recruiters in using the VCN’s videos, occupational information and tools in broadcasting job requirements, finding better-suited applicants, and helping current employees advance in their careers.
