UI Interstate Benefits (IB) Subcommittee and Wage & Hour Committee Convened in March
In March, both the UI Interstate Benefits (IB) Subcommittee and the Wage & Hour Committee convened—one in person and one virtually—to exchange updates, hear directly from U.S. Department of Labor leadership, and discuss emerging priorities and state experiences. Highlights from each meeting are summarized below.
UI INTERSTATE BENEFITS (IB)
The UI IB Subcommittee met on March 17 – 18 in Denver, CO with over 35 members, invited guests, and NASWA staff convening. During the meeting, members engaged in roundtable discussion, received a variety of NASWA updates, and training. Highlights included training tips and techniques for the ICON Cloud Hub State Web Portal and a virtual USDOL presentation that an additional 20 members dialed into. The UI IB Subcommittee will meet next virtually in the spring and summer.
WAGE & HOUR
The Wage & Hour Committee met virtually on Tuesday, March 10. Approximately 30 members from 15 member agencies participated. U.S. Department of Labor Wage & Hour Administrator Andrew Rogers joined to share department updates, priorities, and answer questions from members. The remaining time was spent on committee roundtable discussion where members shared state updates, relevant legislation introduced this year, and asked questions. NASWA’s W&H Committee will meet next virtually on Wednesday, July 15.
NASWA's Policy Committees help define policies on issues that are critical to state workforce agencies. These groups are active throughout the year and meet regularly in order to collaborate on key issues across the national workforce system.
