Veterans Committee Meeting in Washington, DC 

47 members of NASWA’s Veterans Affairs committee met on July 8, prior to the start of the 12th Annual NASWA Veterans Conference. Staff from USDOL VETS were on hand to provide an update on current budget and policy issues and answer a number of questions from the states. Members also heard from Kevin Schmiegel about ZeroMils’ military thriving community initiative, and Todd Ernst demonstrated the “My Vet Benefits” application. The committee’s next in-person meeting will be December 3-4, in Tucson, AZ. The Veterans committee also holds monthly virtual meetings; the next is August 14.

NASWA's Policy Committees help define policies on issues that are critical to state workforce agencies. These groups are active throughout the year and meet regularly in order to collaborate on key issues across the national workforce system.
