Description

Sustaining Care - Evidence-based Techniques for Reducing Secondary Trauma and Burnout in Workforce Practitioners Who Serve Clients with Trauma

Working with veterans on their employment and training journeys can be incredibly rewarding and meaningful. At the same time, it can be exhausting and emotionally demanding, especially when we are supporting veterans who have lived through trauma. To effectively serve veterans with PTSD (both diagnosed and undiagnosed), workforce practitioners need access to the most practical and effective tools for reducing secondary stress and burnout. This interactive workshop presents the CE-CERT model, a functional, evidence-based set of tools and techniques that can be used across roles and disciplines to reduce secondary stress and burnout and strengthen secondary or vicarious resilience. In this session, we will dive into each of the five components of CE-CERT, and experiment with practices and methods that you can apply in your daily work with veterans, to support your overall wellbeing and ability to sustain this vital work.
