Description

The Military Women’s Memorial

It has been 75 years since the landmark legislation allowing women to serve in the US military for a career, not just during wartime. The Military Women’s Memorial is a one-of-a-kind tribute to the three million women who have served both in or with the Armed Forces since the American Revolution. Located at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery, the Memorial features an education center, interactive exhibits and a world-class collection of military women’s stories as well as leading-edge programs such as the Women, Peace, and Security and the Women’s Health & Wellness Series.

SPEAKER

Phyllis Wilson*, President, Military Women’s Memorial

From Combat to Comedy

Making the transition from 26 years of military service and five deployments while also being a military spouse and mother to becoming a civilian would typically be no laughing matter unless you are LTC Robin “Phoenix” Johnson. Even though she admits her transition was not easy, Robin took those experiences and decided her new mission was to heal people, organizations, and communities with humor. She founded Operation HEAL*ARIOUS, a non-profit that focuses on incorporating humor to improve psychological performance for Veterans, and is also the CEO of the Best Medicine Brigade. Robin was voted Charleston SC’s best comedian in 2022 and is now on a national tour with Operation HEAL*ARIOUS through November 9 searching for America’s next great Veteran or military spouse comedian.

SPEAKER

Robin ‘Phoenix’ Johnson* (USA Ret), Therapeutic Humor Facilitator, Comedian, Veteran and Military Spouse
