Unemployment Insurance Interstate Benefits Award of Excellence Presented to DC’s Tanise Brown



WASHINGTON – Tanise Brown was announced as the recipient of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Interstate Benefits Award of Excellence from the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). Brown, a Supervisory Unemployment Compensation Claims Examiner at the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services, earned the honor at the 2024 Unemployment Insurance (UI) Interstate Benefits and Federal Programs Training in Pittsburgh, PA.

A member of the UI Interstate Benefits Subcommittee since 2018, Brown serves on the Subcommittee’s Policy Workgroup as the NASWA Region III Representative. She has also previously served on a Subcommittee project group that developed guidelines to standardize the subject line in UImail which improved communication among state UI agencies.

"Tanise’s knowledge and expertise have benefited the UI Interstate Benefits Subcommittee and programs," NASWA President & CEO Scott B. Sanders said. “Tanise is much deserving of this honor, and she has proven to be a valuable asset to NASWA, Region III and the District of Columbia.”

The Award of Excellence is awarded biennially to the individual who has contributed most to the Interstate Benefits Subcommittee.
