June 2026 Board and Committee Meeting Highlights
NASWA held in-person meetings for the Board of Directors and Policy Committees in Seattle, Washington, June 2-4, 2026.

Board of Directors
More than 30 members attended the meeting, representing 25 states. The meeting, chaired by Cami Feek (WA), opened with roll call, approval of the agenda and committee reports from across NASWA’s operational areas. Key presentations included updates from NASWA leadership, financial reports, and a welcome from the Washington State Employment Security Department. Updates on NASWA’s service lines, U.S. Department of Labor programs, data partnerships, and special projects highlighted ongoing innovation and support for state workforce agencies. The day concluded with peer-to-peer exchanges among state leaders. The next Board of Directors meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Milwaukee, WI, ahead of NASWA’s annual SUMMIT.

Administration & Finance Committee
Nearly 20 members attended the meeting, representing 16 states. Led by Chris Nelson (TX) and Dorothee Schlotterbeck (MD), the meeting opened with introductions and agenda review, followed by updates from U.S. Department of Labor representatives and a joint discussion with the UI Committee. The committee discussed in-person training planning, technical webinars, and SUMMIT workshop development, along with broader legislative priorities and future committee activities. Peer-to-peer roundtables provided opportunities for members to share insights and best practices. The next in person committee meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Milwaukee, WI, ahead of NASWA’s annual SUMMIT.

Employment & Training Committee
40 individuals attended the meeting, representing 24 states. Meeting attendees covered a range of topics, including the current policy landscape, Workforce Pell implementation, and utilization of WIOA Governor's reserve funds. The meeting also featured a showcase presentation from the host state of Washington, updates from USDOL, a presentation from Advance CTE on Workforce-CTE connections, and discussion of recent USDOL communications and policies. The next in person committee meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Milwaukee, WI, ahead of NASWA's annual SUMMIT.

Unemployment Insurance Committee
40 members attended the meeting in person, representing 29 states. The meeting featured guest speakers: Michelle Beebe, U.S. Department of Labor and Jason Tyszko, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Members met for a joint session and discussion with the A&F Committee. Members heard updates on a variety of topics, including the Board of Directors, Behavioral Insights, UI ICON, and the UI Integrity Center. Members used the remaining time for state roundtable discussion. The next in person committee meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Milwaukee, WI, ahead of NASWA's annual SUMMIT.
Policy Committees help define policies on issues that are critical to state workforce agencies. These groups are active throughout the year and meet regularly in order to collaborate on key issues across the national workforce system.
