States Lead the Way in Workforce Innovation

Highlights from the WITSC Steering Committee

On July 16–17, the Workforce ITSC Steering Committee met virtually to spotlight state-led innovations in workforce service delivery. The meeting highlighted how states are modernizing systems to be more integrated and customer-focused, with Workforce ITSC playing a key role in supporting these efforts nationwide.

The agenda featured updates from NASWA leadership and both federal and state partners, covering the FY26 Work Plan, a demo of the Career Ready DC system, and a discussion on available resources to combat fraud. The Steering Committee brings together leaders from vocational rehabilitation, human services, education, and workforce development, creating a collaborative forum to direct Workforce ITSC projects and services.

The meeting also featured a spotlight on the Aligned Case Management (ACM) Institute. State teams from Louisiana, Massachusetts, and New Jersey presented their ACM projects designed to reduce fragmentation across programs, empower job seekers with more personalized support, and improve coordination and outcomes across agencies. From shared case management systems to AI-powered tools, these efforts demonstrate what’s possible when states lead with vision and collaboration. The (ACM) Toolkit with insights from the first cohort is available now! An update with insights from the second cohort will be available this fall.
