NEW! Fundamentals of Equitable Access in Unemployment Insurance (UI) eLearning Course Available Now!

NASWA, in partnership with the US Department of Labor’s Office of Unemployment Insurance, is pleased to announce the availability of a new eLearning course, Fundamentals of Equitable Access in UI.  Funding to develop this course was provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Using case studies, and interactive activities, learners who complete the course will be able to answer the following questions:

  • What is equitable access and how is it integral to the integrity of the UI program?
  • What key laws, policies, and guidance around equitable access apply to government-funded programs, including UI?
  • What does the ideal UI claimant experience journey look like?
  • What are some potential barriers and proposed solutions along the claimant journey that may prevent some individuals from accessing UI benefits?
  • What administrative, technological, and operational strategies can states apply to help ensure equitable access to UI benefits?
  • How can implementing equitable access policies and procedures help states enhance claimant and community satisfaction and improve UI staff motivation and job performance?

The self-paced, sixty-minute course is available on NASWA’s Learning Management System (LMS) and is recommended for all UI program stakeholders, including staff, managers, and leaders.

Interested learners may find additional information and enroll through the NASWA Learning Management System (LMS) at naswa.org/learning.  Click “Browse Catalog/Access My Learning” and search for “Equitable Access.”  Once completed, learners will be able to download a certificate of completion.
