2022 Winter Policy Forum

While we hoped to gather in-person for the 2022 Winter Policy Forum, we have decided to shift to a virtual event due to the surge in COVID-19 cases around the country. The health and safety of our attendees is our top priority. 

The 2022 Winter Policy Forum will be virtual on Wednesday, February 16th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern).

The Winter Policy Forum is a gathering for NASWA state workforce members to discuss current and developing trends in the workforce system and how they will be affected by changes occurring in the national landscape. The meeting focuses on collaborating with representatives from the Administration, Congress, U.S. Dept. of Labor, Intergovernmental (IGO) partner organizations, WIOA partner groups, and other D.C. policy-making groups.

Concurrent Breakout Session: Recruiting, Retaining, and Reskilling Staff: Strategies for Workforce Agencies

The world of work in public service has changed in no small part due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Remote working during the pandemic and high demand for their labor in some sectors means many public service workers desire more flexibility and more choice in where they work and grow skills. State Workforce Agencies have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine how people work – boosting productivity and the ability to attract and retain talent, upskill, and retain talent. Hear what public service agencies are doing to attract, retain, and reskill employees.

This is part-two of the NASWA SUMMIT breakout session, “The Great Reset: New Business Models for the Public Workforce Development System.” This session will continue to discuss roles state workforce development systems should play in this era of worker movement, labor shortages, rapid digitization, and a changing higher education landscape, including the acceleration of free college opportunities.
