Services and Tools

The NLx provides the following complimentary offerings to participating NASWA and DirectEmployers Association members. Scroll down to explore all of our offerings.

Job Feed

A daily file of compiled job postings vetted and distributed via NLx processes and technology.

Job Feed Features

The Job Feed is a foundational offering of the NLx that helps members enhance the reach, volume and variety of job openings while improving the job search experience. It includes millions of verified, available, and unduplicated job postings from employers across varying sectors and locations. Content is contributed by NASWA and DE members, along with NLx vetted employers.

The Job Feed is updated daily and shared with all U.S. states, territories, and a vetted network of syndicated partners (list available upon request). Members and partners receive the feed in formats tailored to their needs, such as jobs within specific zip codes or radius areas. Each posting links job seekers back to the original source.

Job Indexing

Extracting online job postings from specific employers’ websites or applicant tracking systems for inclusion in the NLx job feed.

The Indexing Process

Indexing is a process that automatically finds, downloads, analyzes, and organizes web pages. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with spidering or scraping, as they all refer to collecting and processing web content. Job Indexing through the NLx benefits members by increasing the number of job postings available in job banks for job seekers and recruiters. It also reduces the time, effort, and costs involved in manually entering job listings.

Job Microsite

Search-engine optimized, configurable, easily administered websites developed and hosted via NLx processes and technology.

How Job Microsites Work

A Jobs Microsite is a standalone job search or recruitment website associated with an organization, featuring its own custom navigation, design, and content. NLx Jobs Microsites are not intended to replace or compete with existing job banks or labor exchange systems. Instead, they act as additional entry points that guide job seekers to the same pool of job listings already available in a job search system.

Jobs Microsites

  • are fully customizable and easily administered by members.
  • can be tailored to specific industries, populations, occupations, or initiatives.
  • exist as additional access points to jobs already included in the Job Feed.
  • remain online, even if the state job bank is down.
  • are search engine-optimized, social media-integrated and mobile-ready.

Members can request multiple Job Microsites be developed and hosted by the NLx. Currently, up to five Job Microsites are included within our core offerings. Members may request additional Job Microsites be developed and hosted by the NLx for a nominal fee.

Job Search Analytics

A tool that captures information about job search activity for a site.

Benefits of Analytics

Job Search Analytics allow members with NLx hosted sites the ability to track and better understand the job search traffic to the hosted site. Members can leverage this tool to capture valuable data to learn more about jobseeker traffic. Job Search Analytics help:

  • Gain an overall understanding of the site’s traffic and identify which companies and jobs are getting the most and least attention, and
  • Find where visitors are going after visiting the site and learn how long visitors are staying on specific pages.

Job Search API

An Application Programming Interface to search compiled jobs via the NLx.

Job Search API Features

The Job Search API provides dynamic, interactive access to NLx job postings, enabling participating members to create customized job search experiences. Unlike the Job Feed, which delivers a daily, automated compilation of jobs for easy integration, the Job Search API supports advanced filtering, sorting, and tailored interfaces for a more engaging user experience. This API is ideal for platforms that prioritize flexibility and interactivity, while Job Feeds are best for maintaining up-to-date listings with minimal technical effort. Both tools serve distinct purposes—Job Feeds ensure consistency and simplicity, while Job Search APIs offer customization and enhanced functionality.

Job View Page

A webpage to access details about job postings for systems that require login before displaying to users.

Job View Page Features

The Job View Page is a dedicated webpage hosted by the NLx where job seekers are able to access details about job postings. It displays key job information—such as title, description, qualifications, employer details, and application instructions. In cases where user verification is required to view job posting information and/or where applications are done via email, access to the Job View Page may be gated behind a login process.

Labor Exchange System

NLx hosted online technology tools designed to meet the basic business requirements and processes for conducting labor exchange services.

Labor Exchange Components

The NLx offers a Hosted Labor Exchange System to participating members. This system connects job seekers and employers and includes the essential features required by federal workforce development legislation: the NLx Job Feed, Job Search Tool, and Job Posting Tool. Members can choose to implement all tools together or select individual components.
