Highlights: December Board and Committee Meetings
NASWA held in-person meetings for the Board of Directors and Policy Committees in Tucson, Arizona, December 3-4, 2025.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The NASWA Board of Directors held a one-day meeting led by Board Chair Cami Feek (WA). The Board received updates on policy committees, heard from President and CEO, Scott B. Sanders and a partnership report from the National Labor Exchange (NLx). Discussions focused on the FY 2025 finances and 2026 legislative priorities. The meeting also featured peer-to-peer exchanges and updates on NASWA initiatives. The next Board meeting will be held on February 24, 2026, in National Harbor, MD, prior to the Winter Policy Forum.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (UI)
NASWA's Unemployment Insurance Committee met on December 2 in Tucson, AZ. Members from 24 states and the District of Columbia attended. Led by Chair Kris Funk (WY) and Vice-Chair Holly Newell (IN), the meeting featured time with Michelle Beebe from USDOL, a UI Administrative Funding discussion and presentation with NASWA's Jim Van Erden, roundtable discussion, and several NASWA Services updates. The next UI Committee meeting will be held virtually in late winter/early spring.

VETERANS AFFAIRS
More than 40 people were in attendance at the Veterans Committee’s first in-person meeting of the Association year. Highlights included welcoming new vice-chair Casey Cameron (Utah), hearing from USDOL VETS’ Bek Haydin and colleagues, and a showcase of Arizona initiatives by Chair Anna Hunter. Members discussed future work group priorities, updates on Defense Industrial Base job opportunities, Vet Tix, and the National Labor Exchange (NLx). The next in-person meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2026, ahead of the Veterans Conference.
NASWA's Policy Committees help define policies on issues that are critical to state workforce agencies. These groups are active throughout the year and meet regularly in order to collaborate on key issues across the national workforce system.
