Masterclass Series FAQs

Who can apply to participate in this Masterclass?

We encourage all states to apply and organize a team for engaging in this Masterclass. We look for each team to include a NASWA Member Agency, to be committed to some action on the digital transformation journey (large or small), and to commit to attending all sessions. The application form includes guidance on recommended team membership, but we encourage all to reach out to Workforce ITSC staff with questions and additional support as needed.

What is the cost for the Masterclass?

There is no cost for the Masterclass. It's free to attend.

When is the application deadline?

The application deadline is Monday, July 24, 2023. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Team Leaders will be notified of acceptance or contacted if additional information is needed.

What is the time commitment involved?

The Masterclass includes four sessions (3 hours for each session) and state team members may invest additional time between sessions to gather information and data to use in planning activities. The Masterclass meets from 1:00 – 4:00 PM ET on August 10, August 17, August 24, and September 7.

I'm from a local workforce board or career center and attended the webinar. Can I participate in the Masterclass?

There has been a great deal of interest from local workforce boards in the Series. We encourage states to engage with and support local involvement and for locals to reach out and involve their state NASWA member agency as a team member. Local and state coordination is key to successful digital transformation for our workforce system. Reach out to Workforce ITSC staff if we can help you make these connections!

Will the Masterclass address the latest technologies like AI, machine learning and big data in this curriculum?

Yes, we are partnering with national experts to help state teams better comprehend these technologies and gain a shared understanding of how they can be safely and positively leveraged to improve system efficiencies and customer value.

Why are we so focused on digital transformation now? It seems like there is so much to do and I'm concerned about over-loading staff with another priority.

We know you are busy and that’s exactly why we’re so focused on advancing digital transformation now. With new federal spending opening new infrastructure jobs, the expanding need to upskill our workforce for the Future of Work and your “normal, everyday work,” the System urgently needs to innovate and leverage technology to improve efficiencies for both our customers and professional staff. Small, well-designed steps can make a large difference. Workforce ITSC can assist you in accelerating your digital transformation so you can help staff work smarter (and not just harder) to deliver more value to customers and communities in the digital age.

How do I contact Workforce ITSC if I have questions about the Masterclass?
